The challenge was to to take the dress and put your own personal spin on it. There were no requirements or constraints. It was all up to the photographer to style the shot. As you may know, we held our own casting call and let our subjects bring life to the dress.

This is what Shea had to say regarding her choice of this winning image:
Purity {state of being pure} innocence....speaks to me when I see this image ...each distinct fabric woven and incorporated into the dress tell its own story in and of its own....no need for fancy props and elaborate locations or scenes...the spirit of the child brings the dress to life....this has been my philosophy to share the natural beauty and expression of the child and let the clothing inspire the images...which Matilida Jane always has and continues to do, this dress being no exception.
So check it out and be sure to VOTE FOR SHEA SWINFORD. You'll see that we achieved our goal stated above in the image we chose alongside the other AMAZING photographers. Its now up to YOU.. the public to pick the winner! The winner will get an all expense paid trip for 2 to The Matilda Jane Dress Rehearsal in January. They'll be one of the few who get to see the line before anyone else. And let me just say... if we do win--we're gonna have one big party for our fans to celebrate!!
RULES: Voting is done by adding your favorite photographers to your shopping bag and then checking out. You can add as many photographers as you want to your bag, but don't waste your time adding a photographer a million times to your bag because multiple votes for the same photographer in one bag are ignored. Also, you can check out only once from your IP address (ie-- if you have multiple computers, you can vote once from each computer....) Checking out more than once from your same IP address will not be counted in our system. Voting will end Sunday, December 6 at midnight. Voting takes place on the Matilda Jane Clothing Website

Oh, when you hit Submit, a confirmation page appears asking you to double check everything. You must hit Submit one more time on this page for your votes to register.

Here's the Skinny--Shea Photography is excited to announce that we've been chosen by Matilda Jane Clothing as one of the select few photographers across the country as a finalist in their
PhOTo LoVe contest!!!
- Matilda Jane designed this dress specifically for this elite group of Photographers...
- Our Job: Take a photo, incorporating the dress. Since each photographer has been given the same dress, the trick is to make it look "like Shea Photography" and to make the photo stand out as the BEST of the best! Since Shea Photography's philosophy is centered around the spirit of the subject photographed, we thought the best way to submit our best work was to let YOU put YOUR own twist on this dress.
- Your Mission: Bring in your darling model (girls ages 2-4) to the studio for our Shea Photography Casting Call. We will have the dress for your little sweetie to model, but we challenge YOU to put your twist on the image! There are no rules that apply to this. None, it's all fair game. Any additional clothing, accessories, props, etc will work. Wear it as a dress, wear it as a shirt. Be creative! But remember, it doesn't need to be too fussy-- often, your little star will make the photo a winner by just being her cute little self! But... Anything Goes!!!
The Details:
Our Casting Call will take place on Tuesday, November 17th.Session I: 9-11am and Session II: 2-5pm
There are a limited number of slots, so RSVP, ASAP to jane@sheaphotography.com with which session you will bring in your little model. Tell your friends! Once all of the images are captured, we will choose our favorite photo of each model. Each favorite will posted to both this blog and Facebook galleries.
Here's the fun part:
The photo that is the "Fan Favorite", receiving the most votes online, will receive an 8x10 of that image plus a $100 credit to use at Shea Photography in 2010! The 3 runner up photos that receive the most votes online will receive a free 5x7 and a $50 credit at Shea Photography for 2010! So-- Encourage your family and friends to vote on Facebook OR on our blog for your little star to become the fan favorite.

The City of "Brotherly Love"....
Ok, ok... maybe that's not what we are officially known for in Kansas City (I know...I know) But, you HAVE to admit these two brothers certainly brought on the love for this photo session in Downtown KC.
I love how the little brother got his chance to 'give it' to his big brother in this shot... and who doesn't love a good belly laugh?

My friend, Cari Williams- Owner and Creator of SUBURBAN THREAD (one of my favorite sassy kid's clothing boutiques), brought her family out for a session in our Urban Scene. As you can see the boys really got us all in the mood....Did you notice little guy's fingers and tounge...trying so hard to be like big brother? Kills me!!

Destiny...
